THE DUNEDIN MARKETS. The ' Farmers' Agency Co. (Limited), report for the week ending Wednesday, 10th October :— I Fat Cattle— A moderate entry was submitted at Bump.de for this day's Bale, totalling 149 head, the greater portion being good ta prime beef, while the balance were partially finished or.lr. This supply being no more than sufficient for requirements, competition was fairly active, resulting in tbe drop suffered last week being fuUy recovered on tbis occasion. Best bullock. : brought LIO to Lll 10a ; medium to good, L 7 17s 6d to L 9 17s 6d ; light weights, L 5 17s 6d to L 7 12s 6d ; best cows, L 7 123 6d to 'L 8 17s 6d ; one or two eitra prime, L 9 to L 9 7s 6d ; medium, 15 15s to L 7 2s 6d ; light and aged, L 3 10s to L 5 12s 6d, Fat Sheep— Tbe supply to-day was not quite so heavy, only 2140 being penned, of which 350 were merino wethers, medium to good. The crossbreds included several pens of very heavy cheep and well finished. ■ The greater portion, however, were only medium quality and hoggets. A very good demand was experienced at the commencement of tbe sales, and prices ruling quite on a par with those of last week, more especially for best mutton $ bnt down towards tbe close competition became less animated, and prioes secured then were lower by 9d to Is per bead compared with tbose obtaining earlier. Best crocsbred wethers at the start brought 14s 9d to 16s 9i ; a few pens extra heavy, 17s 6d to 19s 3d ; medium to good, 10s 9d to 13s dd ; best do ewes, 12a 6d to 14s 6d ; one small pen extra heavy, 16s 9d ; light weights, 10s 3d to lis 9 1 ; merino wethew, is 6J to lis, Lambs— 32 were penned, small bnt nice quality and sold at lis to 13a 3d easb. Pits—The entry to-d*y was less, only 43 being penned, neirly all suckers and elipr, all of whioh sold pretty well, the former fetching 10s to 13s, the latter 15s to 18->, about half a dozon porkers 23s to 345, and a few light baconers 32s 6d to 34s ; two or three extra beavy pigs, 653 t. 73s eacb, Store Cattle -All offering met with a very fair demand, whicb will doubtless increase as feed becomes more plentiful. All sorts are saleable, and at prices if anything, in favor of sellets. Store Sheep—There is nothing apparently startling in the tone of the maiket. Some business is being done, though not on a very large scale. Small lots of crossbred hoggets continue to change hands, also a few forward conditioned crossbred wethers and maiden ewes Sheepskins— Catalogues' up to the average were submitted last Tuesday, but only to a very moderate attendance of the trade. Oats— A moderately fair bigness is passing in theae, und late values fairly well maintained, but considering the low prices ruling at outside maikets and which at tbe moment do not show any apparent sign of improvement, shippers will bave no inducement to speculate, and only purchase for present requirements, consequently the quantity put through is limited. Stocks, however, are waekly getting; le.s bulky, and not likely to exceed requirements. Grass Seed— The market is bare of firstclass beavy perennial Beed, and for such prices are very firm and Bales easily effected, wbile tbere is a very considerable quantity of inferior and coarse seed on band whioh cannot be readily disposed of even at prices relatively much lower tban those obtaining for best. Quotations : For beet dressed, 3s 6d to 3s 9d ; choice, 4s ld to 4s 6d j medium to good, 2. 9d to 3s 3d (ex store, sacks, estra, net), Cocksfoot is firm but witbont any charjge in prices, which are : For best dressed, 6d to 6£.i; medium, fid to 69d (f.0.b.).
