RIVERSDALE DRAINAGE SCHEME.
A meeting in connection with the above was held in the Athenaeum an Wednesday night last, Mr Valentine in . the Chaic, Correspondence was read as follows :— From Mr A. W. Eodger (in reply to letter sent asking for assistance from the New Zealand Agricultural Company) stating that he had not sufficient time to consider the matter, but would see what he could do after he heard what was done at the meeting, Letter from Couuty Council enclosing Engineers report on the proposed scheme ; also a plan showing what was intended to be done, the estimate for which was 1(232. The proposed scheme was however only intended to deal with the .North side of the township in the me^tim.a, as the outfall djain woti}d i^ot be low enough to suit the South side. After considerable discussion as to the chances of getting the matter set agoing, the following resolutions were carried : — (1) That in view of the request of thp Council for the assistance Qf those interested in the Riversdale drainage ljchen»e, to, parry oitf the projecr, it is resolved that in" the event of the New Zealand Agricultural Company giving a donation of LSO the other parties interested will contribute a like amount. (2) That a copy of foregoing resolution oe sent to the County Council, with a request that they will intimate whether, in the event of LIOO or thereby being subscribed by th© residents, they vfili c^rr-y out the propogefl sphere, A committee consisting of Messrs Valentine, Gee, Donald, Smaill and Manson was appointed to look after the matter and aot on behalf of those interested. A vote of thanks to the Chair closed the meeting.
