The Australian Gable Nows Company has been registered with a capital of L‘20,000, for the purpose of supplying daily telegrams of colonial news to a much fuller extent than is now available. Sydney, July 23.
The ketch Australia, which left Sydney for Solomon Islands on November 11, has not been heard of since. Fears are entertained bore for her safety.
It has been discovered that the Minister of Justice was in error in stating there were discrepancies in the evidence of the Mount Rennie outrage in connection with Hill and Donnell. There is no discrepancy in the evidence so far as they are concerned, but there is every reason to believe that Newman, Miller and Keeg n were in no way connected with the actual crime for which they were punished. Judge Windeyer, who tried the men, is now finally considering the whole case.

The Minister of Justice has stated that doscrepancies have been discovered in the evidence given at the trial of the Mount Rennie affair, especially as to tiie connection of the youths, Donnell and Hill, with the outrage The evidence of the other men imw being examined show that a slight trace of arsenic has been found in the body of the man Andrews, which has been exhumed f or medical examination. After the suspicious death of Collins, his wife’s second husband, a fortnight ago, a quantity of arsenic was discovered but it was thought to be insufficient to form the base for a charge of murder against the woman. No trace ox arsenic was fc’-.nd in the child’s body, which was also exhumed for examination. Melbourne, June 23. The Trades’ Labor Council made
representations to the Government protesting against the reported intention of the English authorities to send paupers to tho colonies. The organisation throughout the colonies wi'l be invited to co-ope-rate in making a combined protest against the course indicated.
