The Austrahans in their first innings against the Englishmen scored 297 ; Bonnor 72, M‘Donnell 67, Warrall 46, and Trott 37. Grace took six wickets. England in their second innings have lost 7 wickets for 74; Docker 15, Peel 11, and Bambridge 10. Turner took four wickets and Ferris three. The bowling of the Australians was excellent, and much admired. A good wicket had been prepared. The frozen mutton by the Ruapehu is being sold at 4-I-d. In the House of Commons Mr J. Morley moved the omission of the clause in the Local Government Bill, reserving to quarter sessions control over chief constables. The Government were defeated by a majority of 30.
