Visit of a French Warship to Wellington.

Wellington, Jan 27. Shortly after tho arrival of the French warship Fabert she ran up and saluted the British ensign. The D Baftery of artillery returned the salute. At halfpast 2 o’clock the Government launch, having on board Capt. Medley, R.N., Mr G. S. Cooper, Under-Secretary, went off to the Fabert. Tho visitors were received on board by Captain Bonier, to whom Captain Medley presented the card of the Acting-Go-vernor, Sir James Prendergnst. At a quarter past 3 Captain Bonier, accompanied by Count Jouffray Dabbans, French Consul, called upon the Ministers at the Premier’s office, at the Government Buildings, whe.ro every member of the Government had assembled to receive thorn. It is probable that the Ministers wi'l return the call to-morrow. Tho Fabert is expected to stay here about four days, when she will leave for Auck’and, on route for New Caledonia.
