Dunedin, J in. 18. Robert Newton Gordon was i.ned 40s and costs at the Police Court to-day for assaulting 1 and beating an adopted son under I*l years of age. The evidence showed that the lad was incorrigible, but the Justices decided that Newton had used brutality tu the boy. CnrasTCuuEcn, Jan 18. To-day Sergeant-Major Warner of the honorary reserve corps, while class-firing had an accident with his Remington-Lee, which was injured owing to the bursting of the cartridge. Warner escaped unhurt.
