■ . ■ .v-~- ■ - >• *-• Per Press Association. Named, Jan 14. Mr J. M. St Clair, of the firm of Brooking and St Clair, was found dead in his bed this morning. The deceased gentleman was suffering with lung disease. " J Jan 16. Robert Baxter, nine years, was' killed on Saturday near Waipawa Bay, while assisting to draft horses. He was holding a rail at a stockyard gate, and one of the horses rushing past struck the rail, knocking the boy ddwh. Prom the effects of the blow he died, Baxter is the sop qf q, Mr Baxter, chemist, Christchurch, and waß on a visit to this district. Wellington, Jan 14. A little girl, the daughter of George GJ-askin, residing at Taratahi West, met her death \>y falling on the point of a pair of sheep shears, severing the jugular vein. ' 'Jah 16. The dead body of a female child, about Beyen daysold, was found in a sugar bag, washed up on the beach at Jivin’ B Bay. From the appearance of the body it seemed to have been in the wator twentyfour hours, and that the child was first strangled. At present there is no clue to the perpetrator of the crime. New Plymouth, Jan 10. At half-past seven this merning, William Skoals, aged seventeen, whilst bathing in the Henri river, was’ drowned. He dived in and is supposed to have struck a stump of a tree in the river and was siurmej ?,7id never rose again. Deceased and thregßrothers than himself were all bathing together. Plm family of Skeats came here from Hamilton, Waikato, about a year ago. An inquest will he held this afternoon.
H.„ury Clements, who fell down a well at Waingongoro, near IJawera, at the beginning of the month, and fractured one of his anklet has died through amputation being delayed tdo long in order to save the limb. ‘ ' ; ’ Wanganui, Jan 16. The well-known stock dealer, John Davidson, fell down dead this morning in his house'while being washed. The deceased hud been ailing for some time, and is supposed to have died from heart disuse U'Wl irhich be had been suffering.
