Death of the Hon. John Johnston.
Per Press Association. Wellington, Nov 16. The Hun. John Johnston, Avho died this afternoon, Avas the head of the firm of t-hc well-known merchants, Johnston aqd Co, Wellington It is nearly a quarter of a century since ho was called to tho Legislative Council, and from 1353 to 1857 he held a scat in the Stafford .Mini-try without portfolio. Ho was an active member of the Provincial Council for a very long period. Mr Johnston was one of the oldest Freemasons in the Colony.
