Messrs George Thomas and Co. report produce prices : —“ The oat market is exceedingly quiet; large quantities are being offered from Southern centres at a slight clecliie on usual rates; we quote Is lid to 2b Id for fair to prime parcels. Oatmeal remains at TOO to LlO 10s per ton; oaten sheaf eh».!'. L 4 10s; straw, L 3 10s. Flour is uialte 'ed ; favorite brands easily com muid LlO to LlO 5“ ; fowls’ wheat, 3s 3d to 3s 6d per bushel ; bran, L 4 ; pollard, L 4 10 v : feed barley, 2s 9d ; maize, 4» 6d. Potatoes—Blenheim, 50s ; Oamaru, 55s per ton. Onions—On account of the p> oicetive duties placed upon supplies from Australia, prices have ail vs need to L 7 to 1,7 10s per ton ; peas, 3s Gd ; beaus, 3s 9d ; rye-grass, 4s for machine dressed, and 3s 6d for farmers’ parcels. Salt Hotter —Wo anticipated receiving latest intelligence from Sydney and Melbourne in sufficient time to include in present report, but the steamers from both por s have been delayed ; consequently we a"o not able to furnish the desired information ; locally there is no demand, and we still quote Gd as a nominal value. Fresh samples are in greater request, and ruling at B f l to 9d per lb ; eggs remain scarce at°2s Gd to 2s *Jd per doz ; cheese, overstocked, 4Jjd to 5d ; hams, 8d to 8-Ad ; bacon, 6£d to 7d ; rolls (now cure), 7d ; honey, 4d to 5d per lb Ihe market is quite bare of fruit, and shipments of apples and pears from Hobart, expected to-day, should command hi. her prices than were realised for previous co-sign-ment. The added Customs duty should also conduce "toward increased inquiry, as shipments in future will no doubt reduce in bulk. Oranges, being so sour, do not realise shippers’ rates : quinces are now quite out of the market. Poultry —Fowls, turkeys and geese are unaltered at 3s, Bs, and 5s per pair ; ducks are wanted at 4s per pair.”
