The revenue of; the Victorian llaihvav Department still maintains a buoyancy and there is every probability of the commiss'oners being able to present a very satisfactory balance sheet at the end of the financial year. Mr G-dbes, in last Budget speech, estimated the receipts for the current year at £2,425,000. or £125,000 moVo than the estimated revenue of the last year. At the end of Apr- 1 , how ever, the receipts exceeded the estimates by £140,000, and it is expected by the end or June, the increase will be £IBO,OOO. The Grovernment intend to proclaim three days’ holiday on the occasion of the J übilee, vz., June 20tb, 21st and 22nd.
