ENGLISH POLITICAL AFFAIRS. GLADSTONE AND HOME RULE. THE TRIAL OF DILLON' M.P. [Reuter’s Telegrams.] Received Jau 10, at 0.30 a.m. London, Jan 9. It is announced that Lord Salisbury will replace the Earl of lddlesleigh as Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs. It has not yet been decided who will succeed Mr Edward Stanhope as Secretary of S'ate for the Colonies. Earl Cadogau has been mentioned as likely to accept that portfolio. The Daily News of yesterday publishes an article denying the stitem°nt made by the Standard, that Mr Gladstone was inclined to modify his Home Rule for Ireland scheme with a view to conciliate the Unionist Liberals. At the. trial of John Dillon, M P. which is new proceeding in Dublin, General Sir Red vers Bailer, and Sir Michael flick-Beach gave evidence in support of the charge of conspiracy, for which the defendant is being tried. Prince Alexander of Battenburg, ex Prince of Bulgaria, will shortly proceed on a long tour, during which he will visit Egypt. This has been decided upon with a view to putting an end to reports regard* ing his future intentions. Constantinople, Jan. 8.
