THE LONDON MARKETS.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company havo received the following telegram from tlicir London office, dated 18th instWool—Tho sales closed firmly to-day. Tho following advances have taken place since the close of the last sales, viz:—Greasy merino, 2d per lb ; clothing washed, 2£d to 3d; combing washed, 2d to 2£ ; scoured 4d; fine greasy cross-breds, Id to l|d j fine scoured cross-breds, Id to lid ; fine washed crossbreds, Id to 1 i ; coarse greasy cross-brods, id to Id 5 coarse washed cross-breds, id. to Id 5 coarse scoured crossbreds, Id ; and greasy cross-bred lambs’, id to Id. For merino lambs the market is firm. The total quantity sold during the past sales is 350,000 bales. 7000 bales have been held over for future disposal, 6000 bales havo been taken for America, and 194,000 for the Continent. The outlook for the next sales is favorable. Tallow—The market is firmer, and fine qualities are in good demand.
Messrs Murray, Robert*, and Co have received a cable jnessage from their Lon* don firm, Messrs Saunderson, Murray, and Co as follows :—‘‘London, 17th July. Wool sales have closed very firm,’’
