THE COMET.
(Per United Press Association.)
Dunedin, This Day. Mr Beverley writes to the Star:—“ The comet was distinctly visible last night from 9.30 till 10. Itset at 10.15; at 9.50 was due west near the horizon, but will continue ascending about two degrees each succeeding uight at the same hour. It is as bright as a third magnitude star, with a faint tail about two degrees long, as seen with an opera glass ; to the naked eye the tail is barely perceptible owing to the unusually protracted twilight. It will be in perihelion on the 26th, and will be brightest at the end of February.”
