CRICKET.
This, the final match of the season, was played at Grovctown on the Queen’s Birthday, and was one of the closest games yet played, Grovctown winning by one run. The wicket played very treacherous during the day, and the out-fielding was very had, the ground being cut up as if newly ploughed. The bowling of both teams was very weak but this is no doubt due to the bad ground, the ball humping about in all directions. The Telegraphs won the toss and -went to the wickets succeeding in putting tegether the respectable score of SS, Cross being the only one to get into double figures, with IS; Blakely being next with 9. After lunch, the Grovctown team then went to the wickets and made 59 before the lost wicket fell, thus winning by one run. Suthorly and Leahy contributing IS and 13 respectively by hard slogging, these being tho only doubles. Ogilvic hatted well for his 7. Appended are the scores :
