OKAUIA SCHOOL PIANO.
(To the Editor). Si:.;,- —The following questions were subniitted to one of the original piano trustees, now residing out of the Okauia district, and his replies thereto are as follow: 1. How many trustees were firs’: appointed, and their names? —Three; Messrs. C. A. Tapper, R. Williamson and J. M. Paton. 2. By what means was the purchase money for the piano raised ? By dances, socials and subscriptions. 3. Were the school children to be allowed the use of the piano for their benefit and entertainment? —Yes, for all time. 4. Were the trustees empowered to remove the piano from the school without the consent of the settlers ? —no; nor anyone else. I would ask the two deputy-trus-tees who took upon themselves the onus of removing the piano from the school whether these answers are correct. If they are, every honest-mind-ed person will consider the act of the removal of the instrument was at least a breach of trust.—l am, etc., J W. OWEN GARLAND.
