Mrs Anne (‘Ane’) Rachea Antonio, of Suva, Fiji, the only surviving direc descendant of. Petera am Ruatangaere, the Maor couple who first introduced Christianity to the island of Rotuma, about 400 miles N.N.E. of Fiji, ’celebrated her 85th birthday last month (September). These Maoris were adherants of the Maori (Wesley) Mission of Hokianga who landed on Rotuma from the whaler “Caroline”. Mrs Antonio who is a great grandmother plans to visit Te Kao, Kororareka (now Russell), and Hokianga next year to mark the 150th anniversary of the landing of her ancestors on Rotuma Island. Most of her children and grandchildren live in New Zealand and Australia.
