The touring Tongan Rugby Union team started their tour of Fiji on June 29 which was marred by an ugly incident near the end of a match. The Manager P. Vivili is waiting
on instructions from the Tongan Rugby Union before making any decisions. The Tongans outclassed the Viti Levu Minor Unions and wort 16-6. Eight minutes from the end, the referee blew his whistle for an infringement, tempers flared and hundreds of spectators rushed onto the field and attacked the Tongans. Police and local officials ran onto the field and broke up the players from the spectators. The Tongan fullback will not be able to continue after being kicked on the leg during the incident. The score was 0-0 at halftime, but the Tongans built up 16 points from two tries, one conversion, two penalties to the Fijians two penalties.
