EXTENSION AUTHORISED TO JANUARY 14 In view of the large number of people travelling to and from Queenstown the local borough council urged an extension of the present 'steamer and rail service till the end of January on the grounds, largely, of sickness among the younger folk on the buses. The general manager of the Railways replied as follows: “Regret owing to coal position unable extend running of steamer and boat services until end of January. However pleased to inform you that running of those services will be extended up to and including Monday, January 14.
