Queenstown Tennis Club.
AThe auftual meeting of the Queenstown Tennis club was hold in the Council Chambers on the 4th inst., the following being present: Mechanics A r . A. Anderson, W. H. Overtoil, H. 0. Barker, J. Todd, Misses J. Murchison, R. MoSoriley and Edwards, Mr W. H. Overton and Dr. Anderson (president, in the chair).
The minutes of the last annual meeting were read and confirmed. The annual report stated that lithe 1929-30 season had been very successful, but owing to the small membership it had been a quiet one. Visitors’ subscriptions, however, had helped the club very considerably. The courts were topdressed early in the season, towards the cost of which a very successful excursion on the lake helped materially. Friendly matches were played with Arrowtown, Alexandra and Pembroke. The ladies were thanked for dispensing afternoon tea during the season, and Mrs L. Mann was specially mentioned for her donation of trophies and teaspoons for the club.
The main items on the balance sheet were:—Receipts — Members’ subs., £l4; visitors’ subs., £ls 2s (3d; dance proceeds, £7, lake excursion, £l7 6s 6d, sale of balls, £1 7s, credit balance from last season, £4 14s 9cl. Expenditure:—Top-dressing of courts, £2O 16s 9d; new nets, £4 10s; commission on tickets, £2 8s 4d, bank commission, 17s 6d; balls, £2 ss. A credit balance of £l9 7s 7d was earned forward. Officebearers elected were: President, Dr Anderson; vice-presidents, Messrs AC H. (Overton and A. Earrant; secretary and treas., Miss R. McSoriley. General committee: Mesdamcs Mann. Overton, Barker, Miss Clark and Mr AC H. Overton. Match and Handicap committee; Dr Anderson, Mr and Mrs Overton and the secretary. The official opening of the season was fixed for October 18. " Subscriptions; Men £l. ladies 10s, boys 14 and under, 10s: girls 11 and under, ss. The matter of affiliating with Vincent County Sub-association was left to the Committee. It was made a recommendation to the Committee that the Club return the friendly matches played with Clvde and ' Alexandra.
t A proposal that a dance be held on the night of the official opening was agreed to.
It was decided to get quotations for umpire stands and for concrete blocks and iron pipes for fixing the netting round the courts.
New members proposed were: Mr and Mrs 0. H. McKay, Mr and Mrs J. Todd, Messrs Mosley and Lavery and Miss Hunter.
