Lake County Hospital
At the monthly meeting of the Southland Hospital Board last Thursday the following reports regarding the Lake County Hospital were tabled : —-Statistical. Patients remaining Ist. October, 1924, 7 males, 6 females; admitted during October, 7 males 4 females; discharged during October, 1924, 4 males, four females; remaining Ist November, 1924, 10 males 6 females. —Report of Medical Superintendent October has been a busy month, and for the first time to my knowledge all 16 available beds in the main buildl- - have, been occupied at once. During the month the porter, Wilcox, gave notice, and a previous porter named Beckett was employed to get the vegetable garden and grounds in order. This lie has done in three weeks —very good work. A good stock of vegetables is very important to an institution such as ours from an ecor nomic point of view, and it is esseiv tial for us to have a porter who. is a (mod gardener. All the patients are progresssing, and the staff are well and contented. The contractors, Thorn and C 0.., have, not yet made a start with repairing the wards, but I iam hoping to have, them out in about ten days or a fortnight. The institution was visited by Miss Dry burgh a member of the Board, during the month. Everything is in order and satisfactory at the institution.
