SKIPPERS NOTES.

'vFrom Our Own Correspondent.)

The annual school picnic was hfld on Thursday, 28tb December and provftd a success in every way. The children lied collected something like £9, ine wiole of which was distributed in prize? and refreshments. The different events were keenly watched by the parents •and spectators. The proceedings were enlivened by the stirring strains'of the Skippers Pipe Band under the conductorthip of Messrs Jacobsen, Currie, Helms, and others. Two trap loads of tourists were on the ground and there were also visitors from Queenstown, Arrowtown, Tiroaru, Dunedin, Gore, and Invercargill. The Skippers people are noted for their hospitality and the above function proved no exception to the rule. The members of the school committee worked very hard to make every one enjoy themselves. They were ably assisted by the ladies of the district who attended to the refreshments, which were ample and, needless to say, done justice to.

A danoe was held in the Library Hall in the evening, Messrs Jacobsen and Currie providing the music Mr. Dan Ward carried out the duties- ef M.C. Danoing was kept up till mid. night, this terminating what was considered one of the pleasantest outiugs at Skippers.
