A TALE OF FOUR FLIES.
There were once four flies that made their way into a certain pan- ■ try and determined to have a feast. 1 One flew to the sugar and ate ; heartily ; but he soon died, for the j sugar was full of white lead. j The second chose the flour as his j ! diet, but he fared no better, for the flour was loaded with plaster of i Paris. The third sampled the syrup, and his six lebs were presently raised in the air, for the syrup was coloured with anilin dyes. The fourth fly seeing all his friends dead, determined to end his life also, and drank deeply of the fly-poison ; 1 which he found in a convenient sau- .' cer. j i He is still alive and in good health.' That, too, was adulterated.-"Die Gartenlaube." i
