Dance at the Lower Shotover.

The second dance promoted, mainly, by the Lower Shotover bridge workmen which took place hat Thursday evening in the schoolhouae was another success, notwithstanding that the weather was somewhat disagreeable. Quite a largo number of young people went from Queenstown, and the district round about the Shotover was well represented, there being over six sets present, The committee had again made most complete arrangements for the comfort and enjoyment of their patrons. The function therefore went off without the slightest hitch and one and all went away thoroughly pleased with their evening's atnusatuent. Excellent music was supplied by Messrs J. H. Aldridge and son (cornet and piano), whilst Mr Alex Mcßrid >, Lake Hayes, alily marshalled the dancing. During the evening songs were given by Messrs J. Buchanan and W. Fraser, both items being a pleasing break in the night's programme. An abundant supply of choice edibles was provided by the ladies in the locality and mention should be made of Mesdames Churstian, Houston and Gray and Miss A. Mc Bride who so ably and so cheerfully attended to the supper arrangements. Mr Houston was at his old post, the copper, which is always a guarantee that the beverage is right.
