The Blue Slip Trouble.

Mr Mcintosh, Inspector of Mines, visited the Blue Slip, Skippers, on Friday last in company with Councillors J. Cockburn, J. McMullan, and J. S. Collins, the County Clerk (Mr J. W. Fraser), and the County Inspector (Mr J. Powell). A number of Skippers residents met the above party at the slip and formed a deputation for the purpose of bringing before the inspector the great necessity for having the Blip removed. The water scheme was thoroughly gone into, but Mr Mclutosh gave no definite reply to the deputation. Ho said that he would advise the Council in time for its next moeting (tomorrow). The matter will then be fully discussed and it is probable, whatever the Mines Department may recommend, that the water will be put on the slip in order to temove it. Jt was gathered from Mr Mcintosh's remarks that ho was inclined to hold over the final disposal of the Blip for another twelve months in order to Bee what turn it would tike.

The recent rain caused the slip to move down towards the river and thus rendered the light vehicle road useless. All goods have again to be packed over the bad portion of road and there seems very little chance of keeping the road open for the next month or so owing to the wet season.
