FORESTERS' SOCIAL.
Notwithstanding the inclement weather there was a very fair attendance at the social held in the Garrison Hall on Wednesday evening last under the auspices of the Foresters' Lodge. It was unfortunate that the evening should have turned out so cold and damp as considerable trouble had been gone to by the members of the Society in preparing for the event. Those who were present, however, had the satisfaction of having had a very pleasant night's enjoyment. Dancing was the principal form of amusement and it was kept up with unabated vigor from start to finish. The.music was supplied by Messrs Aldridge and Sons (piano, cornet and violin), assisted at intervals by Mr B. Laidlaw, and needless to say it gavo entire satisfaction. Mr Geo. Smith performed the duties of M.C. in a pleasing manner. The supper, which was an excellent one, was most tastefully laid out in the room set apart for the purpose.^The decorations of seasonable flowers, chiefly chrysanthemums, were extremely beautiful and reflected the greatest credit on those ladies whose dnty it was to carry out this part of the work. Several musical items were given during the evening.
