DESCRIBED.

An eminent professor, describing the journey of life, says : "Ten thousand human beings start together on their journey. After ten years one-third of them at least have disappeared. At the middle points of the common measure of life, but half are still upon the road. Faster and faster as the ranks grow thinner, they that remain till now become weary. At three score and ten, a band of some four hundred still struggle on. At ninety these have been reduced to a mere handful, who. year after year, fall in diminishing numbers. One lingers, perhaps, a lonely marvel, till the century is over. ' We look again, and the journey of life is finished." (1385.)
