She: Do you love me, dearest ? He: I do love you, darling. She: How much ? He: More than 1 can tell. She: But tell me how much ? He: I can't tell you, darling. She: Please do. He : I can't. She: You must. Ho: But I can't. She (moving away): You mean yon won't. He: No, darling, I can't. She (pouting): Can't and won't mean the same thing. He: I beg your pardon. She: You needn't. He: Very well. She: You don't love me, and you never did. He: You may be right. She: I am right. He: Possibly. She: You don't even believe what I tell ycu. Hs: I never doubted you. She: You did. He: I beg your pardon. She (hotly): There vou are again, doubting me to my very face. You are a mean, hateful thing, and I'll never speak to you again, t wish you would go away. He: Certainly, with pleasure. She: And never come back ? He: Well, hardly. He departs. She paws the carpet awhile inanger.then goes upstairs and wiites a note. He goes home aod writes another. Next night everything is lovely.
