A lady named Anthone, living in the suburbs of Paris, has been savagely attacked by her large Newfoundland dog. The animal, for no apparent reason, suddenly sprang upon her, and gripping her right arm, literally crushed the bon? between his jaws, and then began to tear off the flesh. The lady's screams brought several persons to her assistance, one of whom fetched a crowbar and knocked the brute insensible. The lady's arm was found to be so fearfully injured that it had to be amputated without delay.
