At last Land Board meeting dames Gardiner was granted renewal of licensa over jetty site, Shotover district, for seven yeais at £1 per annum.
The Bishop of Salisbury jnst arrived at Dunedin, has gone to Kurow to visit the Rev. Mi Frere, a relative. He will return and preach here. The Premier addressed a meeting for four hours at Hokitiki on Wednesday and was accorded a vote of thanks and confidence in his Government.
H.M.S. Royalist will arrive at Dunedin to-day. Local wool sales were held yesterday, when Lincolus Leicester's and Borders brought a farthing to a half-penny over the previous sales, but other kinds were easier.
At the Geelong RiflV meeting Major Unv.Mby scored 101 points out of a possible 105 at 300, 500 and 600 yards. Iu the Oaniaru district it :.? said the harvest will be the best f*r many y.'ars,|and from all districts news comes of benefit to the country from late rains.

The police have found the body of Reid, in the Lytetlton harbour, with a heavy piece of iron tied round his neck.
