Mining Intelligence.

The late rains and snowfall has had only a very transient effect upon mining, and the state of the water is now as it was before the downpour. At Matet'Wn, Messrs Anderson Bros., and W. Patton, it is reported, have broken through the reef into payable w ash-dirt and at satisfactory levels, being low enough to drain the deepest ground in their claims. Mr George Harrow also obtained a prospect on one of the Macetown terraces, amongst which was a nugget weighing 22dwts. In leafing matters there is not much new to report from this locality. The Premier continue to sink their winze No. 3. The Lady Fayre have not yet got through reef, which has now been proved to be nearly 10 feet thick. A report is in circulation that one party at the new ruch at Mount Criffel have unearthed a patch of lOCOozs.—one thousand ounces in two weeks. The report is circulated upon good authority, but particulars as to locality and the individual party concerned are kept extremely dark. It may, however, be accepted that a very good find has been made.

The Invincible Co. are driving their machine level site, in order to reach the winze taken down from the middle level, aud until this is accomplished—which will occupy a few weeks—they will continue to crush stone from the upper level. It is stated that a party who lately started washing up at ths Criffel diggings, obtained 1000 ounces of gold in a fortnight. We hear that a trial crushing of stone from the Duke of Cornwall Co's claim, Rees Valley, only yielded two pennyweights to the ton.
