The grand hotel, DUNEDIN, FOK TOURISTS FAMILIES AND COMMERCIAL GENTLEMEN. NOW OPEN FOR THE RECEPTION OF GUESTS. In introducing to public notice this beautiful structure, which is admitted by all visitors who have inspected it to be the premier hotel of the Australasian Colonies, the Proprietors beg to draw the attention of visitors and residents to some of the advantages it will offer. Being of fireproof construction, with simple and effective means of escape from every floor by the exterior balconies and circuiari ron staircase all the upper doors are made practically as safe as the ground one. Each floor is supplied with a separate fire service, made to our order by Messrs Shand and Mason, of London. No modern public building can rank as first-class unless grpat attention be paid to these particulars. This hotel is insured for CO per cent, lower premium than any other hotel in the Colony. It has a central and open position, facing Custom House square ; charming views are obtainable of the harbour, Peninsula, and ocean from the upper floors ; it is situated in the centre of the tramway systems, and at a convenient distance from the railway station. It is commodious enough to afford all those comforts and conveniences that are to be found in the largest modern hotel establishments, such as efficient office administration, which will be arranged on the American plan ; a beautiful vestibule, passenger elevator, sample rooms, large private reading and smoking room, a guests' drawing room for ladies and gentleman, avoiding the necessity of private parlours; suites of rooms with private baths; private baths and toilet accommodation solely for ladies ; a ladies private entrance and reception room ; a hairdressing establishment, laundry, &c. The sanitary appliances, which are of the most fierfect description, were imported specially fur the niilding, and to avoid faulty fitting and to render the introduction of sewer gas impossible, the plumbing has not been dene bv contract, but with the greatest caic by Messrs Anderson aud Morrison, who were under instructions to execute all this work on the plans recommended by the London San i tary Com m issi oners. The basement drainage is perfect, and the whole section is concreted and cemented : whilst there is aho an abundance of light and ventilation in every part. Thus the whole building cannot be otherwise than healthy and agreeable. It is newly and elegantly furnished throughout. Special attention will be paid to the bedding; woven v.'ire spring matt)esses only will be used. Notwithstanding all these advantages, the tariff will be no higher than that of other first-class hotels. This hotel is confidently presented to the public as the leading one of the Colony. .1. it J.
