WAKATIP DISTRICT HOSPITAL.

The usual monthly committee meeting of above Institution took place in the Boardroom, Frank ton, on Saturday last. Present —Messrs B.'tt-s /chair), J. U'Kane, l>ooley, J. T. Goodsir, Eicliardt, Buy***, and J. S. Worthington (Secretary). Minutes of previous meeting were read and confirmed. Monthly report from the resident surgeon was read and received. Two patients had been admitted to the Hospital, and ten discharged. The following accounts were passed for payment:—Salaries—£37 18s 4d; Rations, W. Patterson, £lO Os l|d; Whittingham Bros, £8 98 6d. Stores—Whittingham Bros., 7s; M'Conochie, 18s; Malaghan, 16s lOd; A. Fraser, £2 13s, Fuel—Dooley, £2O 128 6d; Whittingham, £1 9s 2d. Bedding and Clothing—Walde, £5 0s 2d; Whittingham, 8s sd. Medicine—Malaghan, £4 15s 8d; Kempthorne, £3O 2s Bd. Undertaking, P. Doyle, £3. Stationery—R. Boyne, £2 10s. Incidental—£L 13s 4d. A discussion took place as to " ways and means," during which it was stated that the subscriptions were coming in very slowly, while the overdraft at the bank (including accounts just passed) would be about £630. The question of appointing a Hospital Sunday was brought up, but the Committee did not view it with much favor, as a previous attempt proved a comparative failure, in consequence of ministers (with one exception) not responding. As it waa deemed necessary that some steps should be taken at once for endeavoring to increase the funds of the Institution, it was Projjosed by Mr Boycs, seconded by Mr O'Kane, and carried—" That Mr Bctts and Dr Douglas wait upon the Rev. Mr Stewart, asking him to give a lecture during his stay in Queeustown, in aid of the Hospital funds.'
