J. Malaoha*. Frederick Evans. | George Aram. Solicitor: G. B. Bartoh. mHIS Company is projected for the purpose of purchasing and waking the large area of ground commonly called Racecourse Tenaoe, at Arthur's Point, now held under gold-mining leases by Messrs Thomas Briggs and Robert Johnston. The position of this ground, which evidsntly formed the old bed of the Shotover river, combined with the fact that extraordinary yields of fold were obtained in its immediate neighborhood in the early days of the goldfield, has long led to the belief among miners that it contains a lead of gold as rich as any yet discovered on the Shotover. t Mr Warden Beetham, in a recent official report; referred to the prospects of this undertaking in tits following terms:—"At Arthur's Pont, 1 understand that extensive operations are contemplated, with the view of testing the laige terraces lying between the old workings and the Chinese holdings at the Big Beach. All attempts to trace the lead from Arthur's Point into the Terrace have hitherto proved fruitless ; but aa these attempts have been entirely confined to single miners, or to small parties of men unpossessed of neoossary capital to enable them fairly to prosecute the search, the ground may be considered a* really unprospected. Should the lead be struck, there is every probability that it will prove a very rich one. In the opinion of experienced miners, it is likely to extend into the deep ground lying between Arthur's Point and the Arrow River."
