Despite some protests against the dangerous precedent, tho House of Commons, without division, acoepted Mr Bon ax Law’s resolution enabling the Pensions Bill to bo rushed through tho House, which subsequently passed tho Bill through all stages without a singlo amendment.' Sir L. Worthington Evans, Pensions Minister, explained that there were 220,000 now pensioners, owing to tho Bill's generous terms in increasing tho amount of private means which pensioner's were entitled to possess.
