1 RAELWAYMEN’S RESOLUTIONS. , [From Ouk Coerhsfondtot.] I WELLINGTON, October 6. 1 Labour unions outside the ranks of the coal miners are apparently taking close interest in the coal mine 9 dispute, and the watersiders in Wellington will consider the matter at a special meeting to-morrow. There are rumours of some action being taken by Australian miners to assist the New Zealand men. 'Em nature of this action cannot be ascertained from the representatives of the Labour Alliance in Wellington. When the Labour Alliance approached the Government with a suggestion for a further conference in connection with the mining dispute, and a proposal to nationalise the coal mines in New Zealand, the chief spokesman was Mr Hampton, president rtf the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants, which is associated with the alliance. A representative of the “Lyttelton Times ” was informed to-day by Mr Mack, general secretary of the Railwaymen’s Society, that resolutions are coming from all parts of. New Zealand pledging branches to assist the executive council of the Amalgamated Society in any action they may take to help the miners to secure a fair- settlement of the dispute. An aggregate meeting of Newcastle and Maitland miners endorsed the attitude of the New Zealand miners and decided to assist them and to adopt ; the principle of “ darg ” as it affects -New Zealand.
