THE MOTUEKA SEAT. [Peb Press Association.] REEFTON, October 6,
Mr M. Fagan, the elected Labour candidate for Motueka. handed his resignation to the Labour Representation Committee, with a request that another candidate bo ' chosen. Mr Fagan toured the ivhole of the northern part of the electorate, formed a strong committee in every centre. and received assurances of support. Asked the reason for liis retirement, he stated that he thought there was a good chance of capturing the. seat, but in his opinion he could do greater service to Labour by remaining in tho industrial ranks _ than by entering politics. Hence his decision to remain with the Inangahua Miners’ Union, with which ho had been for eleven years. The local branch of the Labour Party will take immediate stops to fill the vacancy, caused. Mr James Daniel Lynoli, Mayor oft Greymouth for tho past four years, and prominently connected with other local bodies, has’ announced himself as a cam didate for the Westland seat, as an am dependent.
