A SERIOUS CHARGE.

[Per Press Association.] \ WAIMATE. October 6. Norman Naylor, a young man, was arrested yesterday and charged with conspiring at Dunedin on or about September 15 to procure an illegal operation on a young woman. He was remanded at the Court this morning to appear at ,tho hospital this afternoon when the depositions of the young woman will bo taken. A Dunedin chemist named Hayne, and his assistant, Inglis, will also bo present in custody. . Later.

The depositions of the woman concerned in tho caso against Hayne and others were taken at the public hospital to-day, before the Magistrate, Mr M’Lean. The three accused were remanded to Dunedin, to appear on October 14, at 10 a.m. Bail was fixed in the case of Naylor at £2OO, with two sureties of £2OO each; in the case of Inglis at £2OO and two sureties of £2OO each; and in tho case of Hayne at £3OO and two sureties of £3OO each.
