CALEDONIAN SOCIETY.
AUTTUAIi COMPETITIONS. The annual corn petitions hold under the auspices of the Canterbury Caledonian Society were concluded on Saturday. The entries totalled 140. The judges were:—Dancing, Air W. Kilgour; piping, Mr James Allan; and singing and reciting, Air H. Gladstone Hill. The pipers for the dancing were Pipe-Major Exskine. Pipers J. Shannaban, James Allan, L. Shields, R, Milne and R. Legge. Champion points were awarded as follows: —•Muriel Waugh, first, 10 points; L. Bdgintou, second, 7 points; Emily Turner and Violet Robertson, equal, third, 6 points eaoh. Results on Saturday were as follows: Highland fling (1019 pupils, girls)—Vera Af Donald 1, Mabel Dalton 2, Twenty-four others oompetod. Highland fling (1919 pupils, boys)—Lloyci Maynard 1, Jack Simpson 2. Two others competed. Scottish song (under twelve years)—Kathleen Philpott 1, Gwen Clarke 2. Four others competed flbann Triubhais (1919 pupils)—Rita Peter1, Mabel Sinclair 2. Seven others competed. Sword dance (open, under seventeen years) —vKmlly Turner 1, Dorothy Caldow 2. Eight others competed. Recitation (undeir .twelve yeqrs)—Stella) Chapman 1, Kathleen Philpott 2. Three others oompetod. , Piping, marches —L. Shields 1, W. Fowler jt One other competed. Recitation (open, under seventeen years)— 35ulcio Philpott 1, Gladys Giles 2. One Other competed. Soann Trinbhais (open, under seventeen years)—Muriel Waugh 1, Nina Smith 2. Thirteen others competed.
