SEFTON MUTUAL DAIRY ASSOCIATION.

The thirty-first annual meeting of the Scfton Mutual Dairy Produce Association was adjourned from September 25 owing to tne absence of a quorum. On the amended data the attendance was again short of the requisite number, as a clearing sale was being held near the township. In accordance with the articles of association, the directors will now carry on the business for another year. _ The retiring? directors, Messrs J. D. Wyllie and W. Hayes, will be re-elected, and a shareholder will bo appointed to fill a vacancy on the directorate caus-d by the departure of Mr J. E. Burns from the district. Messrs J. Marshall and C. I. Jennings will also bo re-olocted auditors. The directors, in their annual report, congratulated tho shorehoiders and suppliers on the termination of another successful season, which had resulted in a net profit on the year's working of £460 9s Id, as compared with £256 6s 4d for the previous year. The Imperial Government were again taking the export butter at last year's price of Is 4d ia-lCd per lb f.o.b. Owing to tho dry spell during the season, tho output had decreased a littlo, the figmes being 212 i tons as against 220 1-10 tons in 1917-18. The output for 1916-17 was 171 1-7 tons, when the number of suppliers was 248. The suppliers now numbered over 362, which was a sufficient guara tee of tho satisfaction given by tho association, and tho confidence of the suppliers. Tho directors proposed to pay a 6 per cent dividond on all paid-up capital, and this would amount to £142 19s 6d; also to carry tho balance of £317 19a 7d forward. A summary apponded to the report was as follows.—Milk received at Woodend, 106,999 lb (1317-18, 802,-l951b); at. Drabblo'a Corner, 864,7321 b (634,0631 b); cream received at Sefton, 974,8611 b ((939,757); averago overrun, 16.8 (17.1); number of suppliers, 362 (324); averago prico paid for butter-fat, 'ls 6d per lb (Is 4Jd per lb); tons of butter manufactured, 212 J tons (220 1-10 tons); cost of manufacture per lb, 1.93 d (1.91 d). The trading account showed:—Sales, £39,326 17s €d: butter on hand, £24 Is 6d; sale of buttermilk, £25; total, £39,475 19s. Tho value of tho stock of butter on hand at the commencement of -the year was £776 6s Bd. Payments wero:—To suppliers, £29,893 17s lOd, and bonus £3446 6s lOd; for requisites, £B5l 8s Id; a total of £35,067 19s Ed, leaving gross profits of £4107 19s 7d. The profit and_ loss account showed the eacpenditure to have been £3963 0s Gd, leaving a net profit of £460 9s Id. The chief items of expenditure were:—Coal, £495 5s 7d; wages, £'257 7s 4d; caTtago, £529 14s 6d; railage, £389 5s 2d; freezing export charges, £366 19s 2d; di°counts and commissions, £l3l 14s 8d; and interest, rates and insurance £268 17s 4d. The liabilities fnlly covered by iiafeta wero £6960 19s 2d.
