Albert Metin, head of the French' mission to Australia, who ,said: —“I am rncst anxious to reach Australia to study conditions with a view to establishing preferred nation arrangements for trade after tho war. lam very interested in Australia’s repatriation plans for her soldiers. I expect many men will seek the land of sunshine after tho war. The Premier, Mr Hughes, is growing exceedingly popular. . In France and in other parts of tho Continent the peoplo are greatly impressed by bis power for leadership. “Mr Lloyd George lias informed M. Poincare that Mr Hughes is ono of the few men who have mastered the economic problems brought about by tiro war.”

M. Mctin added: “ I consider Mr Hughes one of the greatest men produced by the war.” ' \ L™
