ELLESMERE A. AND P. ASSOCIATION.
The General Committee of the Ellesruero Agricultural and "Pastoral Association met at Leeston on Thursday, Mr I. Andrew, president, in the chair. A suggestion, was received from the head ma3.er of tho Tai Tapu School that there enouict bo a class in the Bcnedmo lor collection of inaoots by boy or' gin. The Canterbury SociOvy would give a special prize ot £1 is. Tne committee considered that there was not sufnoient time for cniidren ,o get collections of insects together for the next show, but it was uecided to recommend next year'B committee to insert a class in the schedule for the following show. Mr G. H. Barnett reported that considorab.o interest was being shown by Red Cross branches in connection wiih tho Red Cross section for tho show. He had been in touch with tho depot in Chrietchurch, and the list of articles comprising tho different classes had boen revised. Tho committee voted a sum of £l2 for prizes for the Red Cross section.
It was decided to have no publican's booth at the show, but the secro.ary was authorised to ca.l tenders for other privileges and for a band. The Ground Committee's recommendations were approved. Class stewards were appointed as follows: —Sheep—Border Leicester, Romncy Marsh, English Leicester, Lincoln and cross-bred, Messrs E. J. Cowan and S. J. Wickliffo; Shropshire, Southdown, Ryoland and halfbred, Messrs W. M. Gabble and J. S. Inwood ; fat sheep and lambs, Messrs J. A. Scott and J. S. Hailiday. Cattle—Shorthorn and fat, Messrs G. W. R. Osborne, H. Galpinnnd T. Greenall; Jersey, Ayrshire and Friesian, Messrs John Brooks. Joseph Brooks, J. Moorhead and W. B. Cunningham. Horses —Military, Messrs R. T. M'Millan and* I. M'Gill and Major T. H. Overton; blood, hacfoioy and hunter, Messrs H. Schnelle. J. C. Lochhead and A. B. M'Evedy; carriage and trotting, Messrs W. Lochhead, H. O. Gardner and A.
