: BOARD OF GOVERNORS. The Technical C!ollog8 Board of Governors ' nun last night, Mr George Scott presiding. 'he Finance Committee recommended that a utrther sum of £250 should bo invested in 1 *iii certificates on account of the Old Boys ilemorial Fund. The recommendation was approved. .... ■lr W. H. Cooper was appointed chairman o ho Building Committee, and Mr W. Hay■as.A chairman of the Finance Committee. '.'he diroctor (Mi J. H. Howoll) reported that the City and Guids of London ejMiirirea.ions v had been hold during the past month, and fjhe number of entries in electrical and mechanical engineering had been highly satisfactory. For the first time no cookery examination' had been held, no doubt owing to the food restrictions at Home. This, was the first occasion on which the Christchtirch technical College had entered pupils for mechanical engineering, but ho trusted that in futuro it would form a regular feature of the work. The work of the school had boon considerably interfered with by bad weather. During tho stoppage of the eloctrical supply the machine shops Were used fox bench work cin'y, but only on one evening were they seriously inconvenienced for want of light. .The Education Board wroto etating that it w-ia obtaining legal advice on the liability of tho college authorities in the event of accide ts occurring to students in the workshops. A fetter was received from the chairman of the Canterbury Collogo Board of Governors ask : ng' for support towards the establishment of a library'containing books of a technical no'tiro. The letter was referred to the Appointments Committee. Mr C. W. Hcrvey sweated that not less than twenty guineas should be donated. iHic Master Printers' Association forwarded its rnnual donation of £3 3s. ~ "*r Moorfield wrote accenting tho position of drawing master, and Miss I.
