PERSONAL.
There was a large attendance of mem* bers of the Sumner Bowling Club at tho pavilion to bid farewelFto two of their members who are going into camp, Messrs AY. S. Ileyes ancl T. Coffey. Tho president (Dr E. Gossett) occupied tbo chair, and in making n presentation c? a wristlet watch to Mr Heyes stated that their guest had proved one of tho most enthusiastic and energetic the club had on its membership roll. As a member of the House. Committee lie had. done excellent service and ho had also given valuable assistance at alt times in connection with tho club’s water supply and pumping .plant. Other members eulogised both Mr and Mrs Heyes’s labours on behalf of the club. On behalf of the members, also, tho chairman presented Mr Coffey with a case of pipes. Both recipients suitably replied. ,
Mr W. Gordon Rich, Worcester Street west, a member of tho Second Canterbury Military Service Board, has received news that his son, Lieutenant G. G. Rich, has been awarded ’lie Military Cross. Lieutenant Rich is a Canterbury boy. lie was educated at Christ’s College and Lincoln College, enlisted with the Main Body, fought in Gallipoli, Egypt and France, ana ha( won the distinction in Italy.
