THE RUGBY GAME. SECOND ROUND. Tho second round oi tho Canterbury Rugby Union's competitions was played on Saturday in fine weather. , FIRST GRADE. Playing at tho Show Grounds, Old Boys beat Linwood by 8-points to 6. For the winners Tench ami Boag scored a try oiach. Tench converted one. For Linwood Donaldson scored a try and W. Cummings kicked a penalty goal. Marists and Christchurch met on. tho Christchurch ground, the former winning by 6 points, a try by Fitzgerald and a penalty goal by Armstrong/ to nil. On tho Show Ground, Merivalo heat Al-bion-Addington by 17 points to nil. Penborthy, Grant, Glasson and Drake scored a try each, one being converted by PefcH berthy, and Williams kicked a goal from, a mark. SECOND GRADE. Old Boys beat Mariste by 38 points to nil. Tries were scored by Zimmerman (4), Corbett (3), Parker (2), Blackmore, Burn and Tait, one being converted by Parkor. Lincoln College boat ’Varsity by 34 points to nil. Smith (2), Wild (2), Haynes (2), Austin (2), Rogers and Clair scored tries, two of which were converted by Coates. Linwood beat Merivalo by 8 points to 6. For the winners Kerr and M’Cormack scored a try each, and Jorman converted one. Partridge and Cartwright scored tries for Merivale. THIRD GRADE. Albion beat Sydenham by 19 points to nil. Tries were scored by Brown (2), Evans, Johnston and Sinclair, and the last-named player polled a goal. Linwood played a drawn game with Christchurch, no score. Technical Collogo beat Old Boys by 50 points to 3. FOURTH GRADE. Boys’ High School A beat Albion-Adding-ton by 41 points to 3. For the winners tries wero scored by Petrie (3), Mortlock (3), Alley (2), Walker, Crosbie and Ansted, four being converted by Walker. Jl'Cormick scored a try for the losers. Rangiora beat Marists by Ci points, tries by Marshall and Fleming, to nil. FIFTH GRADE. Addington-Albion beat Sydenham by 6 points, tries by Collins and Motz, to 3, a penalty goal by Harrison. Marists beat West Christchurch District High School by 35 points to nil. THE LEAGUE GAME. COMPETITION MATCHES. Tho competition matches arranged by the Canterbury Rugby League wore advanced a further stage on Saturday. SENIOR GRADE. At St Albans Park Sydenham boat Federal by 22 points to nil. Tries were scored by Smythe (2), Yeung and T. King, all being converted by Smythe, who also kicked a penalty goal. Hornby and Linwood met at Linwood Park, tho former winning by 25 points to 3. For the winners tries were scored by Smith (3), Sanders, Dobson, Bench and Moffatt, two being converted by Sanders and Cole. August scored a try for Linwood. SECOND GRADE. Addington beat Avon by 5 points to nil. Kerr scored a try and Pagan kicked a penalty goal. Woolston won from Sydenham by default. THIRD GRADE. Linwood A beat Sydenham by 27 points to nil. Tries were scored by Carter (2), Harper (2), Moulin (2), and Kiuley, three being converted by Baker. Hornby beat Addington by 13 points to 11. For tho winners Lemmax, Buektin and Salter scored a try each and M’Gregqr kicked' two penalty goals. For Addington tries were scored by Falgar,(2), and Williams, and one was converted by Burgess. Linwood B beat Avon at Linwood Park by 15 points to nil. Tries wore scored by Mardon, Aichbold and Barber, and Kelly (2) and Mardon kicked goals. . I FOURTH GRADE. Woolston A won from Federal by default. Sydenham beat Linwood by 20 points to nil. Tries wero scored by Forrester (2), Stevens, Thornton, Young and Fraser, one being converted by Thornton.
