MEETINGS-OF SOCIETIES.

The Hope of Christchurch Lodge, 1.0.G.T., met in tho Manchester Chambers on Tuesday, Sister Mardoi, C.T., presiding. Members of the Enterprise Tent, 1.0'.R., and other friends were present. Sister Mardon and Brother Efford welcomed tho visitors, and Brother Leaver and Sister 8i01bv.1.0.R., responded. Musical and other items were contributed by Sisters Bastion and Baseand, Brothers Lord, Gunncll and Haoord, and Misses lleyder «nd I. Baseand. At tho "half-yearly meeting of tho Mistletoe Lodge, No. 3, U.A.0.D., A.D. Brother Willya-ms was in the chair. Tho sum of £9 17s 4d was passed for sick pay. A maternity bonus of £4, under the National Provident scheme, was also

passed, this being tho nineteenth claim since the schema was inaugurated in tho lodge twelve mouths ago. Tho balance-sheet tor tho halt-year, which was adopted, showed an increase in funds amounting to £176 9s Id, including tho amoant of £7O bequeathed by a deceased brother to tho Benevolent Fund. For tho office of D.P., Brother M'Kenzie, Hope of St Albans Lodgo, received a unanimous vote. The officers were installed by tho D.P., Brothey Batv, assisted by Brother M'Kenzie. Tho D.P. also made a presentation of a framed diploma to tho retiring J.P.A., Brother Lightfoot, whose iiamo has been placed on tho respect board. The Loyal Benevolent Lodge, 1.0.0. F., M.U., met this week. N.G. Brother W. Easterbrook presided over a fair attendance. P.G. Brother 11. E. Bobbins, Loyal City of Christchurch Lodge, was lalso present. Three members were reported on the Sick Fund. It was resolved that a. letter of condolence, expressing tho members' sympathy, bo sent to tho relatives of tho late P.G. ■Brother D. Korr. Tho delegates of the U.F.S. Dispensary presented a. report of the last meeting, and a- notico of motion was tabled to support tho proposal of the Board of Management with regard to the hospital scheme. An application for funeral claim, also three surplus bonus claims, wore granted. Two claims for maternity bonus undor tho National Provident Fund scheme were granted. P.G Brother Robbins addressed tho members on the question of tho paymont of war members' sick pay. He was listened to very attentivelv and was accorded a voto of thanks. It was resolved to hold a social reunion of members noxt lodge-night, and a committeo was appointed to mak-3 all arrangements. Tho Loyal Perseverance Lodge met in the Oddfellows' Hall, Woolston, Inst ws-ek, P.G. Brother Gntehouso presiding over tt fair attendance of members. A of tho quarterly meeting of the U.F.S. Disviensarv Board was given by the delegates, P.P.G.M.'s Brokers Davidson ' and Lo G'onr.e, and after discussion was adopted, and pleasure was expressed at tho appointment of Brother Davidson to a seat on the executive. It was resolved that letters of sympathy should bo forwarded to Brother M. G~. Greeu, Lyttelton, relative to the death of his oon. killed in action; also tho Loval Kaiapoi Lodge, on its loss sustained through the death of P.P.G.M. Brother Wright, a highly-esteemed member of the cider. P.O. Brother Gatehouse reported on a recent meeting of the Woolston Red Cross branch in connection with a carnival to be hold at an early dale.

Mrs Rhodes, lad; 1 superintendent, was in charge, Mrs Watkins, first officer, questioned -members on home nursing and dealt with the thermometer, cold packs, cold sponging, washing ;i patient in bed, care of the teeth, eyes, nose, etc. Tho half-yearly meeting cf the Hops of St Albans Lodge, U.A.0.D., was held in the Druids' Hall. St Albans, last week, A.l). Brother Smith presiding over a fair attendance. The balance-sheet and tho auditors' report wero adopted.
