BROMLEY SCHOOL.

ROLL OF HONOUR UNVEILED. There was a large gathering o£ parente and children at tho Bromley School on Saturday afternoon, when a Roll of Honour wasjmveiled in memory, of pupils of the school who had gone to' the front. The Mayor of Christchurch, . m a brief address, spofce of the noble manner in which the boys of the Bromley district had responded to the call of ...the Empire, and the way in which they had " played the game." He emphasised tho need for unity amongst all, and said ho looked forward to tho result with tho utmost confidence. Mt C. H. Flavell said that in this crisis tho hoarts of all must go out to the mothers who had given their sons to the nation, and ho hoped that when the war was over the people of tho district would rise to tho occasion end erect a substantial memorial. Tho chairman (Mr Huggins) then asked Mrs WiiTicombe, mother of tho first pupil of the school to make the supreme sacrifice, to unveil the memorial. . , Tho Roll of Honour is framed m oak, and contains tho names of upwards of fifty .exsoholar3 who are doing, or have done, their duty for King and country. After the unveiling ceremony the prizes won during the year were presented, and Mr C. H. A. T. Opie, chairman of the Education Board, delivered an address.
