Tho enemy attempted to cross the Bystritzn south of Jezupol but failed. • Attempts to recapture heights in the wooded Carpathians region of •flhe Czarny Czcremosz wore unsuccessful. CLAIMS OF THE ENEMY. THE BUKOWINA FRONT. AMSTERDAM, September 13. A German communique says:—General von Contas's troops repulsed a Russian massed attack in front of imotree on the Golden Bistritza. LONDON, September 12. An Austrian communique reports:— All enemy attacks on the Russian front were fruitless and were repulsed with heavy losses. AERIAL ACTIVITY. Australian and N.Z. Cablo Association. (Received September 14, 7.30 p.m.) AMSTERDAM, September 14. A German communique says:—On Tuesday our seaplanes bombed and sank a destroyer in the Gulf of Riga. LOAN IN JAPAN. TWICE SUBSCRIBED. " The Times " Service. (Received September 14, 7 p.m.) PARIS, September 14. Tlie Russian loan in Tokio opened and closed in the same morning. It was twice privately subscribed.
