BIG INCREASE IN REVENUE
MINISTER'S STATEMENT,
The Hon Arthur M. Myers has furnished the following figures for publication, which show tho revenue and expenditure for the five months ended August 31, 1916, compared with the corresponding period of last year, also the revenue for tho year ended August 31, 1916, compared with the year ended August 31, 1915. In submitting the statement of revenue and expenditure for the five month* enCTUi August 81, 1916, MiMyers draws attention to tho satisfactory condition of affairs disclosed, the revenue having increased to the extent of nearly £7OU,IKiO, whilst the expenditure has increased a matter of only a iittle over £160,000, more than half of which is on account of interest and sinking fund. " Tho revenue figures for the year ended August 31,1916," said Mr Myers, "are alio very interesting, and disclose a remarkably satisfactory position, t*ie increase over last year being well over £2.0uv,000."
