"It was the twenty-fifth day, and sixty-five witnesses have been .called. Wbata Rua, a son of the 'accused, who is'awaiting,trial for alk-ged complicity in the Maungapohatu affray, said he was present-when the Police Commissioner and other members of the police.party: arrived. Rua exclaimed, "Guns!" and, calling out to the Commissioner, "Taihoar waved his hand to the people to. go back." Witness described scenes at tho arrest of Una, and said that up to the time witness was taken in custody ho did' not hear his father express any desiro to fight the police, and he was not awaro of any preparations for hostilities. When Rua was on the ground, ho Called to .the police. "Shoot mo 1 ! Witness Mamed the police for all the trouble, and explained that ho picked up an.axe which was on the.ground, as he thought his father was going to bo killed. Several other witnesses also gave evidence.
