The Press Bureau states. — General Smuts reports that after considerable difficulty, duo to lack of water and the density of the bush, a portion of General Hoskins’s column reached Kwediziva, six miles north of Handeni, on June 15. The advanced troops reached Kilimanjaro village on June 16. A considerable German force was reported entrenched near the Han. deni water supply. Simultaneously Brigadier - General Hannyngton’s column, advancing along the railway, occupied an important station at Karogwe and secured cht brid'ge over the Pangam River. Our forces occupied the island of Ukerewe, in Lake Victoria Nyanza, north of the German fort of Mwanza, capturing two Krupp guns and ft quantity of stores.
